3D Maneuver Gear Mod

During one of my boring days, I decided to work on this mod, and a year later, when boredom struck again, I finally completed the project.

My goal was to recreate the famous three-dimensional maneuvering equipment in Minecraft. While the mod may seem simple on the surface, I put a lot of effort into it. It features a fully functional dual-wielding system (without using coremods), an accessory rendering system, and, I admit, some flawed vector math.

If you're interested in how it all works under the hood, or if you think you can improve the code—it's completely open and available on GitHub (the link is in the banner above under 'source').

How to Use

The mod requires Baubles by Azanor. To get started, first craft a set of maneuvering gear and a control handle. The gear is equipped in the belt slot, and the handle is used to operate it—you'll notice it's dual-wielded. Starting from Minecraft version 1.9.4, you need to hold one handle in each hand.

Left click activates the left handle, right click activates the right handle—it's pretty straightforward. A regular click triggers an attack with the respective weapon, but it doesn't deal any damage! Yes, you first need to equip a blade into the handle. Blades are equipped from the holster: hold Ctrl and click (left click for the left handle/holster, right click for the right).

How do you get blades into the holster? Craft a few blades, then right-click with a blade in your hand to place it in the right holster, and Shift+right click to place it in the left holster. Yes, you can attack enemies with a bare blade, but be careful—you might cut yourself.

Maneuvering

Now that you've figured out how to equip blades and attack, let's talk about actual maneuvering. Shift+click launches a grappling hook (again, left click for the left, right click for the right), and a subsequent Shift+click instantly retracts the corresponding hook.

You can start reeling yourself toward a hooked grapple by holding the hotkey (default: 'z' for left and 'x' for right).

And that's the basic operation of the maneuvering gear. Oh, I almost forgot: while wearing the maneuvering gear, holding Shift and pressing Space will release gas from the nozzle on your back instead of jumping, propelling you in the direction you're facing.

P.S. You will take fall damage, and quite a lot. That's why there are special impact-compensating boots to reduce fall damage. Of course, you can use other means to prevent fall damage...
