Advanced Repulsion Systems
This mod introduces force fields that operate using IndustrialCraft 2's energy system and consume EU power.
To begin, you'll need a force field core. Connect it to a power source. Note that 1 EU equals 10 force power units.
Next, you'll require a projector. Several projector types exist, each creating a differently shaped force field. After activation or deactivation, a cooldown period prevents immediate reuse to avoid spam.
Projector Types
All projector types require a projector base. You "program" it using a pattern crafted with reinforced stone:
- Area projector - creates cubic or spherical fields centered on the projector
- Tube projector - forms tube-shaped fields extending in one or both directions from the projector. Use a wrench to change direction
- Plate projector (formerly deflector) - creates flat force fields at a distance in front of the projector. Direction can be changed with a wrench
- Line projector (formerly directional) - by default creates fields only straight ahead, but extenders placed nearby enable flat field projection in other directions
- Reactor containment field projector - see Nuclear Reactors section
Component Linking
So you have a force field core and a projector. What's next?
First, craft a blank card. Place it in the force field core to encode it with that core's frequency - you can remove it immediately. Alternatively, right-click the core while holding the blank card.
Place the encoded card in the projector (via GUI or right-click) to link it to the core. You can then activate the projector with a redstone signal if the core has sufficient energy.
Upgrades
All upgrades can be placed diagonally adjacent to projectors - they don't need face contact:
- Camouflage upgrade - makes the force field resemble another block (only certain vanilla blocks supported)
- Block cutter upgrade - enables the field to break obstructing blocks. Works with all projectors
- Dome upgrade - makes area or tube projectors create only the upper half of their field (hemisphere, half-cube, or half-tube)
- Range upgrade - increases maximum distance between projector and core. For force field cores only
- Storage upgrade - increases energy storage capacity in the core. For force field cores only
- Underwater upgrade - for tube and area projectors, destroys water and lava blocks inside the field when activated
- Zapper upgrade - turns the field red, damaging entities on contact and breaking boats
- Inhibitor upgrade - prevents fields from other cores activated later from appearing inside its attached field. For area projectors only
Nuclear Reactors
Place a reactor containment field projector one block away from a reactor (touching chambers is acceptable), or directly adjacent to a zero-chamber reactor. When receiving a redstone signal, it creates a 3x3x3 or 5x5x5 field around the reactor. If trapped inside, you can escape by breaking this block.
The GUI includes a "reactor water cooling" option. When enabled, water appears inside the active field for additional energy cost.
If reactor heat exceeds 75% of maximum, the projector should auto-activate and destroy obstructing blocks (like with a cutter upgrade) to contain any explosion. Known to work in version 1.2.5, untested with reactor overhaul in 1.3.2.
Reactor connectors can be placed in the reactor field wall, touching the reactor or chamber, to conduct redstone signals and electricity through the field. They are explosion-proof.
Field Movement Device
Right-click any side of a force field projector with the movement device to shift the field in that direction's opposite (e.g., click top to move down). Shift-click moves in the opposite direction. Fields cannot be moved while active.
Fences
These elements from the old DeFence mod:
- Chain link fences are normally indestructible but break instantly with cutters
- Barbed wire fences act like webs and cacti - slowing players and causing damage
Code Doors
Code doors also from DeFence.
Use the GUI to set a 1-4 digit access code. Anyone knowing the code can open the door. If you didn't place the door, you cannot break it unless it's open or you're in creative mode.
