AE Lights
AE Lights is a Forge mod that enriches Minecraft with distinctive lighting blocks, drawing power exclusively from the Applied Energistics network.
Main Features
This add-on provides 16 diverse lamp colors, aligning with Minecraft’s native color palette. Each illuminator draws 2 AE/t of energy (roughly 1 EU/t). Seamlessly integrate these devices into colored AE cables, expanding your network in sync with AE infrastructure updates. Installing new lights prompts a network reboot—best avoided during active crafting sessions.
Operation & Additional Traits
The current build equips each lamp with a 20 AE-unit backup battery to avert flickers during grid recalibrations. Right-clicking the block reveals residual charge in the built-in power cell (WAILA-independent functionality).
Ongoing developmental roadmaps introduce auxiliary power supplies, advanced creature suppressors (e.g., Magnum Torch equivalents), and dedicated controllers to choreograph comprehensive lighting scenarios.
Crafting Essentials
Lux Dust: Synthesize two units spontaneously by combining redstone ore, glowstone, nether quartz, and certus quartz—no specific crafting arrangement required.
Colorful AE Lamps: Forge six modular lights per cycle using four portions of mixed Lux Dust, four quartz vials, and chosen dyes matching the desired visual finish.
Technical Prerequisites
- Operates under stable Minecraft (v1.6.4+), Forge, Applied Energistics Rv13 or further releases
- WAILA integration exposes battery information
- Auto-generated configuration files manage block/Powder parameters independently
- Define power consumption coefficients; zero-level completely switches off module energy consumption
Version 0.2.0 Updates
☒ Upgraded GUI discharge mechanism suitable for WAILA-disabled channels ☒ Deprecated responsive side-effect failures on display mechanics replaced with proper block interactions ☒ Operational configuration updated to reflect solar industry-compliant response delays for visualization systems
