akkamaddi's Classical Alchemy

Despite the name, this is not a medieval chemistry mod. The author chose this title for their own reasons. This version is an adaptation for Minecraft 1.16.5 and later of the Classical Alchemy module from the akkamaddi's Additions mod that existed in version 1.7.10. Originally developed by akkamaddi, the project was later abandoned, and I took over its maintenance.

The mod offers enhanced versions of copper and tin - Cuprum and Stannum. From these materials, you can create two types of bronze: Pyropus Bronze and Pulchrum Bronze. A third type, Tomb Bronze, is found in chests and used by mobs. With the "Simple Arsenic, and Old Lace" mod installed, it becomes possible to create Tomb Bronze.

Classical Alchemy: armor and blocks

Required dependencies: SimpleCoreLib, SimpleOres2 (or any other mod that adds copper and tin), Fusion.
Optional: akkamaddi's Arsenic and Lace

Classical Alchemy Items

Basic Materials

Cuprum is highly purified copper, while Stannum is enhanced tin. They stand in relation to the base metals as steel does to iron. Both are created by combining two ingots of the base metal with catalysts: coal/charcoal yields a small chunk, bone meal yields a medium chunk, and gunpowder yields a large chunk. These materials are stronger than iron.

Types of Bronze

Combining Cuprum and Stannum creates alchemically enhanced bronze - Pyropus Bronze (historically known as "Red Bronze"). It is comparable in characteristics to Mithril, though slightly less durable, but accepts enchantments well.

Fusing Pyropus Bronze with gold ingots using redstone dust as a catalyst (only large chunks) produces Pulchrum Bronze. It is less durable than Pyropus and even inferior to Cuprum, but has an exceptionally sharp blade that allows mining obsidian and onyx (harvest level 3). Due to low durability and poor resistance to shear stress, it cannot be used to create functional armor.

Tomb Bronze is a special material that has lain in the ground for centuries, typically in burial sites. Despite patina and corrosion, it is stronger than Mithril, holds an edge well, is suitable for armor creation, and is highly enchantable.

Crafting Recipes

Stannum: Tin + Tin : (S) Coal/Charcoal (M) Bone Meal (L) Gunpowder Cuprum: Copper + Copper : (S) Coal/Charcoal (M) Bone Meal (L) Gunpowder Pyropus Bronze: Stannum + Cuprum : (S) Bone Meal (M) Gunpowder (L) Redstone Dust Pulchrum Bronze: Pyropus Bronze + Gold : (L only) Redstone Dust Tomb Bronze: Pyropus Bronze + Arsenide Bronze : (S) Rotten Flesh (M) Redstone Dust (L) Glowstone Dust or Old Lace Shroud

Arsenide Bronze ingots and Old Lace Shroud items are added by the Simple Arsenic mod. Large chunks are smelted into ingots using standard recipes.

Tools and Armor

Full sets of tools and armor can be crafted from Cuprum, Stannum, and Pyropus Bronze. Tomb Bronze is suitable for all tools and armor except the hoe, as necrotic energy renders soil infertile. Pulchrum is used only for tools and is considered too beautiful for hoes.

Stannum armor has the unique property of dissipating kinetic energy during vertical falls - when wearing a full set, you take no damage from falling anvils.
