About the Modification
This mod grants you the ability to craft, discover, and cast magical spells. The spell-casting system is completely unique, which is why I've explained the fundamental principles of working with it on this page.
To embark on your magical journey, you'll need to obtain or craft Spell Scrolls and a Wooden Staff. A unique feature of the mod is that spell recipes and their chanting sequences are RANDOMLY GENERATED in each new world. Detailed information about each spell can be learned by studying the Book of Spells. For comfortable gameplay, I strongly recommend installing the JEI addon, which will help you view all crafting recipes. To create a spell, you'll need parchment and specific runes corresponding to the particular spell.
How to Cast Spells
Before using magic, you must first learn the spells. To do this, simply right-click while holding a found or crafted scroll. Unlike many other magic systems, here you don't need to record spells in a book or similar items - ALL spells you've learned are always available for use.
You can discover the chanting sequence of a spell in several ways:
- By studying the craftable Book of Spells
- By hovering over a scroll in your inventory
- Using JEI, if this addon is installed
When you master at least one spell, take a staff in your hand and press the Spell Wheel key (default V). A circle with six different runes will appear before you. By selecting runes, you fill the chanting bar at the bottom of the screen. When the bar is full, if you know a spell with that sequence, it will appear in the center of the screen. After chanting, you can close the menu - the spell will be selected. The active spell is displayed next to the hotbar when holding a staff.
To cast a spell, simply press the right mouse button (or hold it for channel-type spells). If you have enough mana, the spell will take effect. Please note: some spells require a target. If no suitable target is found, the spell will whiff (enter a one-second cooldown), and mana will not be consumed. For non-harmful spells with no target found, you automatically become the target.
Special Casting Items
After gathering enough Arcane Dust, you can create various magical items. Special Casting Items are objects capable of storing spells inside them. To bind a spell into such an item, hold a staff in one hand and an empty special item in the other, then right-click. Instead of the usual effect, the spell will be bound to the item. Using the special item activates the contained spell in a unique way:
- Spell Pearls - are thrown, and the spell effect occurs wherever the pearl lands
- Wands - a limited-use version of the spell that doesn't require mana to cast (functionality temporarily disabled)
Advancing Your Mage
Beyond finding and crafting more powerful spells, you can enhance your magical abilities with special equipment. Most armor and weapons in the mod can be dyed like leather armor. This equipment increases maximum mana, mana regeneration rate, and spell power. You can also enhance them with new enchantments that improve effectiveness or provide completely new effects.
Important Note
The mod is under active development, so some elements may change. Occasional bugs may occur. For the mod to function, the ShadowizardLib library is required.
