Antique Atlas

What is this mod?

Antique Atlas is a craftable in-game item that provides access to a special world map. You can navigate the map by dragging it with your mouse, as well as change the zoom level using the mouse wheel. The map screen features buttons for adding, removing, and hiding markers, along with an export function to save the map as an image.

Cartography Features

The map generates around the player, representing each 16×16 block chunk as a single biome. Custom biomes added by other mods automatically receive default textures based on their type in Forge BiomeDictionary. If desired, you can create your own texture packs with unique designs.

Compatibility and Requirements

For the mod to function correctly, it must be installed on both the server and client. Developers are free to include Antique Atlas in their modpacks under non-commercial use conditions.

Crafting Recipes

Creating an atlas:
+ =

Like with regular Minecraft maps, right-click on an empty atlas to create a working version:

Atlas Cloning

+ × N = × (N + 1)

Crafting an atlas with empty atlases allows you to create copies of the original. The map content is identical across all copies, so you can leave one copy at home and embark on adventures without worrying about losing your atlas.

Atlas Merging

#1 + #2 = #3

Two different atlases can be combined during crafting to create a new atlas containing the contents of both originals.

To open the atlas, hold it in your hand and right-click.

Texture Packs

A colored texture pack by Golrith is available, supporting Biomes O'Plenty and Thaumcraft. This pack offers a refreshed colored style for the atlas (except for mesa and icy biomes), along with special textures for biomes from the mentioned mods.

Installing the Texture Pack

1. Copy the file "AntiqueAtlasExtra.zip" from the archive to the ".minecraft/resourcepacks" folder
2. Launch Minecraft, go to Settings → Resource Packs and activate the "Golriths Anqitue Atlas" resource pack

Enabling Biomes O'Plenty / Thaumcraft Support

1. Replace the "texture_sets.json" file in the ".minecraft/config/antiqueatlas" folder with the file from the archive
2. Similarly replace the "biome_textures.json" file or manually edit it by copying the lines corresponding to custom biomes from the "biome_textures.json" file in the archive
3. Ensure that biome identifiers in the configuration match the actual biome IDs in your BoP/Thaumcraft installations
