Adding Life to the End - Aphid Additions
Have you ever thought about making the End dimension more vibrant and diverse? Perhaps you've dreamed of a unique insect-like means of transportation? With Aphid Additions mod, your wishes come true - and that's far from all it offers!
What the Mod Adds
This mod introduces two new creatures to the Minecraft world - aphids inhabiting the End. These insects not only decorate the dimension's landscape but also provide valuable survival resources.
New Creatures and Their Features
In the End, you can encounter two varieties of aphids:
- Lesser Aphids - you can interact with them using an empty bottle to collect honeydew, the End's equivalent of honey
- Greater Aphids - serve as riding animals without the need to use a saddle; they are faster and more jumpy than regular horses
Both types exist in several color variations. Only purple Lesser Aphids and dark grayish-purple Greater Aphids spawn naturally. To obtain all color variations, you'll need to engage in thorough selective breeding!

The insects can be bred using beetleberries - a new plant that rarely spawns in the End. If you're lucky enough to find a stable, you'll discover several bushes of this berry next to your new six-legged friends.

Useful Resources from Aphids
Aphids serve not only to decorate the End but also as a source of food and materials for those lost in this dimension.
- Aphid Meat - drops when killing the insect; can be improved by cooking it and glazing with honeydew
- Chitin - used to create a new armor set that provides better protection than iron but is inferior to diamond
- Chitin Spikes (rare drop) - used to create tools and weapons that are faster than netherite but have significantly less durability
New Structures
The mod adds special stables in the End where you can find aphids. Importantly, some biomes from BetterEnd have also received their stable variants, although installing BetterEnd is not required for this mod to work.
Updates and New Features
New Food Items in Version 1.19
- Dragon's Breath - spicy snack, seeds can be obtained by breaking End grass; plants grow on bare End stone near light sources, but be careful - may cause poisoning
- Elytra Shards - can be cooked into End Wings, which can then be either glazed with honeydew or covered with hot sauce
- Hot Sauce - crafted from Dragon's Breath and other End plants to add spiciness A Beetleberry Jam - key ingredient for creating jelly, speeds up your character after consumption
- Jelly - block with properties of both cake and slime; cannot be broken but is an incomplete block that enhances jumping
Tool and Armor Improvements
- Tools were slightly nerfed but received built-in levitation enchantment when hitting enemies; chitin pickaxe now mines End-themed blocks much faster and when combined with efficiency instantly breaks End Stone
- Armor has a more expensive crafting recipe and built-in thorns enchantment, and when wearing a full set significantly enhances jumping
