Archeology Mod
Archeology Mod is a Fabric-based modification for Minecraft that adds a complete archaeology system to the game. The developer aimed to create a vanilla-like experience, imagining how this system might look if implemented by Mojang themselves.

Important: The mod requires Fabric API to function. It's also recommended to install Mod Menu for convenient configuration management.
What is the Archaeology System?
Archaeology was first introduced at Minecraft Live 2020 but was later postponed from the Caves and Cliffs update. Officially announced features included:
- Excavation sites (special structures)
- Archaeology brush (presumably made of copper with oxidation capability)
- Block brushing mechanics for obtaining loot
- Ceramic shards
- Clay pots (raw and fired)
- Clay pot firing process
Mod Features
Copper Brush
A new tool for archaeological excavations crafted from a copper ingot and feather. Features:
- The brush oxidizes with use
- Oxidation level affects loot rarity (similar to Luck of the Sea enchantment)
- Higher oxidation makes it harder to avoid breaking the brushed block

Excavation Blocks
Four types of excavation blocks added: dirt, gravel, sand, and red sand. They differ from regular blocks by having white stripes.
- Brushing with the copper brush gradually reveals random loot
- Players must constantly move the mouse to prevent block breakage
- Block break speed depends on brush oxidation level
Ceramic Shards
Items dropped from brushing excavation blocks. Can be placed on raw clay pots before firing.
- Different shards feature unique patterns
- Shard design depends on the excavation site where it was found
Raw Clay Pots
Crafted from five clay balls. Features:
- Up to 8 shards can be placed on one pot
- Breaking drops 2-4 clay balls (or the block itself with Silk Touch)
- Firing requires fire or campfire underneath

Fired Clay Pots
Container blocks with 9 item slots. Features:
- Items can only be inserted via hopper or dropper
- Once inserted, items cannot be retrieved without breaking the pot
- Silk Touch preserves contents when broken
- Subject to gravity and maintain contents when falling
- Can be dyed and washed with water

Excavation Sites
Special structures where excavation blocks naturally generate. Available locations:
- Plains excavation site
- Snow excavation site
- Mangrove excavation site
- Desert excavation site

Visiting any excavation site for the first time grants the "Forgotten Legacy" advancement.
Planned Features
- Copper brush enchantments
- Possible addition of copper golem
