Astral Arsenal Shocking Stories title

Astral Arsenal is a modification that completely overhauls Minecraft's combat system, focusing on movement dynamics and weapon variety. The key feature of the mod is the kosmogliph system.

Main Additions

The mod adds numerous elements that make battles more engaging and fast-paced.

New Weapons

Currently, Astral Arsenal includes four unique weapons for the late game: railgun, nailcannon, astral greathammer, and tome of hexes. Each of them has special properties that are revealed when used correctly.

The railgun is initially weak but becomes extremely powerful when equipped with a kosmogliph, dealing significant damage and causing various effects.

The nailcannon fires a continuous stream of nails, each dealing minor damage. The weapon slowly recharges when not in use.

The astral greathammer deals more damage than a sword with the same cooldown but has no area-of-effect attack. It's excellent for critical strikes against single targets but less effective against mob hordes.

The tome of hexes is a powerful support tool that grants you a buff allowing you to inflict devastating hexes on opponents when dealing damage. However, be cautious: if you damage yourself or get interrupted while reading the tome, the hex will turn against you.

Kosmogliph System

Kosmogliphs represent concentrated astral energy that empowers weapons, armor, and tools with powerful effects. To apply them, you need to create a cosmic table and cosmic gems. Each kosmogliph requires one gem, but a tool with an installed gem can freely swap kosmogliphs.

Experiment with different kosmogliphs—each has an in-game description explaining its function. Try various combinations and enjoy the process!

Effects

  • Reduce: Increases damage taken by 5% per level.
  • Bleed: Deals 0.4 damage per second per level.
  • Conductive: Affected entities take more damage from electrical sources and chain lightning to nearby targets.
  • Tear: The first melee hit on this target deals up to 15 extra damage depending on the Tear level.
  • Immortality: Grants immunity to all damage sources except the user's own attacks. Lasts for short durations.

Balancing

Astral Arsenal makes several changes to vanilla mechanics to improve PVP balance.

  • Protection, Blast Protection, Fire Protection, and Projectile Protection enchantments are removed.
  • Feather Falling now provides 20% damage reduction per level (maximum 80%), as Protection no longer enhances this property.
  • Added a new "Crimson Time" mechanic—5 ticks after an entity leaves the crosshair during which you can still hit it (inspired by the Enhancement mod).
  • Removed the 5-tick delay between raising a shield and starting to block damage.
  • Movement speed penalties when using items (drawing bows or crossbows, eating food) have been adjusted.
  • Arrows of Harming deal no bonus damage if the base arrow deals less than 3 damage. Instead of guaranteed 12 damage, they now add 2 magic damage per level to the arrow's damage.
  • Power increases damage by 50% less than before, but to compensate, all arrows deal 1.5x damage to non-player monsters, making this enchantment slightly stronger against mobs.

Note: If you use entity culling optimization, add "astral_arsenal:beam_renderer" to the "entityWhitelist" in the configuration.
