Asylum Engine - Immersion into the World of Outlast

The Asylum Engine mod brings the intense atmosphere of the cult horror Outlast to Minecraft! This is an improved version of the AsylumZ mod, allowing you to create high-quality levels in the style of the famous horror game.

Core Gameplay Mechanics

  • Crawling and hiding from pursuers
  • Overcoming high obstacles
  • Squeezing through narrow passages
  • Player chase sequences
  • Enemies and opponents
  • Progress save points
  • Infrared video camera for filming in the dark

Additional Features

  • Authentic sound design recreating the Outlast atmosphere
  • Unique building blocks
  • Special furniture and decorations
  • Many other features for complete immersion

Recommendations for Best Experience

For maximum effect, it's recommended to use Complementary Shaders version 4.6 with the suggested settings. Any other shaders supporting dynamic lighting and complete darkness will also work. Make sure the "Mod Resources" resource pack is at the top of the list in resource pack settings. Set music volume to 0%, ambient sounds to approximately 30%. Set field of view to "Normal" or value 60, enable camera bobbing when moving. If you notice strange textures, disable connected textures.

Level Creation Tips

Don't wear Miles' clothes - they switch to adventure mode. Use developer mode in the off-hand to interact with functional blocks. Functional blocks can be deleted with right-click. Study the demo world to understand the principles of functional block operation.

Functional Blocks

These special objects are key elements for creating and playing levels, allowing you to reproduce Outlast gameplay in your world.

Important Information

Save functions, enemy triggers, and enemy spawn points should be placed close to each other for proper operation. Always place enemy triggers before spawn points - if the spawn point is out of range, the enemy will appear regardless. All functions reset when the player dies.
