Balanced Shield
The Balanced Shield mod introduces a new game mechanic - "shield tolerance" that gradually decreases with each hit your protective equipment takes.
Mod Overview
In standard Minecraft, the shield is practically an impenetrable wall that only tires from an axe strike. This mod changes the situation, making protection more realistic and balanced. Now when blocking attacks with various weapons, the shield's tolerance gradually decreases, and when it reaches zero, the shield is temporarily disabled.
Different weapon types deal varying damage to shield tolerance:
- Swords and attacks from non-player mobs disable the shield in 3 hits
- Arrows disable the shield in approximately 4 hits
- Explosions (except those caused by entities) disable protection in 2 instances
- Axes and firework explosions disable the shield instantly

After some time without blocking attacks, the shield's tolerance automatically recovers. Full recovery requires about 10 seconds without active protection.
During blocking, an orange message appears above the quick access panel showing the remaining tolerance reserve. This indicator is under development and will be improved in the future.
Compatibility
The mod perfectly combines with Guarding for the most complete gaming experience.
Shields from the Bumblezone mod are automatically supported. For working with other mods, shields must be added to the special "shield" tag of the Balanced Shield mod.
Compatibility with mods that change the basic shield mechanics is not guaranteed, as Balanced Shield makes changes to the core protection functions.
