About Basic Weapons Mod
Basic Weapons modification expands Minecraft's arsenal by adding 6 fundamentally new types of melee weapons for every standard in-game material. All new additions are carefully balanced in terms of damage, attack speed, crafting cost, attack range, and special effects.

The weapons are designed to be unique, powerful, easy to master, and fair. The author developed Basic Weapons precisely because they were looking for a weapon mod that would organically fit into vanilla gameplay but couldn't find the right option.

Material Pack System
Want compatibility with materials from another mod? Check out the list of available material packs. If the pack you need isn't listed — no worries! You can create it yourself using the web application for creating material packs.
Material packs are loaded when the game starts from the "basicweapons_materialpacks" folder in the Minecraft root directory. It's important to add packs before launching the game — modules added while the game is running won't be loaded.
Compatibility with Other Mods
Bronze Mod
My Bronze mod automatically adds Basic Weapons made from bronze when both mods are installed together. No additional material pack is required.

Better Combat

Basic Weapons is great for expanding your adventure arsenal by itself, but it truly shines when paired with Better Combat.
With Better Combat installed, quarterstaffs receive exciting new attack combos, daggers and clubs can be paired with other weapons for devastating dual-wielding mayhem, and the hammer even features a fully custom attack animation.
If this sounds interesting to you, definitely try using both mods together.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the "Might" enchantment do?
Might works exactly the same as vanilla Sharpness.
It increases your weapon's damage by a fixed amount based on enchantment level.
I thought it didn't make much sense for blunt weapons to have Sharpness, hence Might.
What are the recipes?
Recipes are unlocked in the vanilla recipe book
when obtaining the requisite materials (e.g., picking up an iron ingot).
You can also use a mod like EMI to view all recipes.
What are the mod's dependencies?
Basic Weapons has no extra dependencies, just plug and play!
Is there a neoforge/fabric/quilt version?
Basic Weapons officially supports Neoforge and Fabric. If you're running Quilt, use the Fabric jar.
Can you backport the mod to Minecraft 1.X.X?
Unfortunately, I don't have time to backport Basic Weapons to earlier versions.
However, the mod will support each new major version of Minecraft.
I found a bug / my game crashed
If you encounter any issues with Basic Weapons, please don't hesitate
to create an entry in the GitHub repository issue tracker.
Bug reports are incredibly helpful and help make Basic Weapons the best it can be.
Known Issues
- 3D item models in vanilla Minecraft have visible gaps. Until Mojang fixes this bug, I strongly recommend using the Model Gap Fix mod.
- Minecraft 1.21+ has a bug where damage-increasing enchantments (like Sharpness and Might) don't show the damage increase in the weapon's tooltip. Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon.
