Bedrock Ranged Mobs - Implementation of Bedrock Edition Mechanics
This datapack/mod introduces two important mechanics from Bedrock Edition that are missing in the Java version of Minecraft, providing greater consistency between game editions.
In underwater conditions, skeletons switch to melee combat since arrows don't fly well in water and lose their effectiveness. This logical behavior change makes underwater encounters more realistic.
Drowned now use their tridents for melee attacks when the player is within a 3-block radius. At greater distances, they continue to throw tridents, maintaining tactical variety.
In the standard Java version, both these mobs use only ranged attacks regardless of circumstances, making their behavior less adaptive and realistic.
