Better Cave Worlds
This data pack completely transforms the Minecraft world into an underground cave environment with diverse biomes. Unlike the standard cave mode, here full vegetation, underground reservoirs and large ore veins are generated, creating picturesque underground landscapes.
Generation Features
Due to technical limitations, most structures appear on the bedrock ceiling. This adds additional challenge to the game - accessing treasures and exploration will require overcoming vertical obstacles.
Among the structures generated in the upper part of the world:
- Buried treasures
- Desert pyramids
- Igloos
- Jungle pyramids
- Mansions
- Ocean ruins
- Shipwrecks
- Witch huts
Creature Spawn Mechanics
Peaceful mobs follow standard spawn rules - they require high light levels. This means they can only appear near light sources such as lava or glow berries, as well as in special underground village pens.
Natural spawning is also possible but limited to a cap of 10 creatures. For successful animal breeding, it's necessary to control the number of loaded mobs and provide sufficient lighting.
Limitations
Snow layers are hardcoded to generate only on the surface, so they don't appear in the underground world.
Mod Compatibility
Mods that change the landscape may conflict with this data pack - one of them will overwrite the other's settings. If a mod adds new biomes, their vegetation will likely not generate underground. Solving such problems may require special compatibility patches.
