BetterSleeping Revived - Enhanced Sleep System

This mod is an updated version of the original BetterSleeping by ExtraCrafTX, completely rewritten for Minecraft 1.17 and above. It provides better compatibility and native support for the playersSleepingPercentage game rule added in 1.17.

Sleep Recovery

Players receive regeneration effect for 25 seconds after successfully sleeping through the night. The effect duration can be configured through the configuration file.

Insomnia Penalties

If a player skips three consecutive nights without sleeping, negative effects are applied. The longer the character stays awake, the stronger and longer-lasting these effects become. The penalty system can be disabled, and the number of nights before effects activate can be configured.

Possible negative effects include:

  • Slowness
  • Weakness
  • Nausea
  • Mining fatigue
  • Blindness

Notification System

The mod sends messages for various events: when a player sleeps, when night is skipped, and when penalties are activated. All messages are configurable and support special placeholders:

  • Night skip message doesn't use placeholders
  • Sleeping players message supports:
    • {asleepPlayers} - number of sleeping players
    • {totalPlayers} - total number of players
    • {asleepPercentage} - percentage of sleeping players
    • {asleepPlayersRequired} - required number of sleeping players to skip night
    • {asleepPercentageRequired} - required percentage of sleeping players
    • {asleepPlayersAdditionallyNeeded} - additional players needed to sleep
  • Penalty message uses {nightsAwake} - number of skipped nights

The configuration also includes a formatting field for messages where you can specify standard Minecraft colors and styles.

Configuration

The configuration file bettersleeping.toml is located in the config folder, which is in the same directory as the mods folder. If the file is deleted, the mod will automatically recreate it with default settings on next launch. In singleplayer, configuration menu is available through ModMenu.
