Badlands
The pear cactus grows in three stages, causes damage when mined, and drops itself when collected. When the plant matures, the stripped pear cactus yields cactus pads and prickly pears. Nine pads can be crafted into one leather. Prickly pear fruits restore one heart of health. Tumbleweed seeds can also be planted on dirt or sand. On hitting a mob, the tumbleweed plants a seed (if possible), and on the second hit it drops a seed and vanishes.
Savanna
Baobabs and termite mounds do not generate in the world, but their elements are available to players. From baobabs, you can obtain foliage, trunks, and bark (which cannot be turned into wood). The baobab fruit provides long-lasting saturation. The termite mound block gradually clears adjacent logs of bark, and when paper is used nearby, it turns them into new termite mounds. Ostriches attack those who try to take their eggs or monsters approaching the nest. They step over fences, drop feathers, and leave meat and leather upon death. Ostrich eggs appear when the birds breed, go through three incubation stages, and hatch into ostrich chicks.
Desert
Palm trees and succulents also do not generate naturally in the sands, but their resources are available for use. The set of blocks from palm wood includes all variants, including hanging leaves, which have increased blast resistance. Arrows bounce off such blocks (and even palm boats!). Date fruits are edible or can be turned into vinegar. Vinegar can bleach blocks, and when reacted with calcite, a fizzing occurs—collected with a glass bottle to make calcite powder. Four such bottles create one block of calcite. The coconut block can be stripped to make the coconut fall; if you use a bucket on it, it fills with milk, leaving two coconut halves. The halves turn into coconut chunks, leaving the shell. The shell is smelted into charcoal or crafted into a bowl. The chunks are eaten or mixed with sugar to make dried coconut. Thatch roofing and stairs are made from palm leaves. Salt blocks, bricks, tiles, carved elements, and lamps appear opaque but let light through (unlike tinted glass); all have stairs and slabs except carved and lamps. Salt, like redstone, is placed on surfaces, and undead mobs avoid it. Succulents come in 16 colors and 4 forms. Meerkats spawn in groups, conflict with other groups, and have a "standing" animation. Meerkat leaders dig burrows in the sand where all group members can hide.
