Bleak & Barren - Desolate and Barren Landscapes for Minecraft
The Bleak & Barren modification fundamentally changes the standard game world by adding 11 completely new biomes that transform once-flourishing lands into lifeless wastelands. With this mod, you'll find yourself in a world reminiscent of post-apocalyptic, horror, or industrial settings - featuring dried-up plains, forests of dead trees, and destroyed ecosystems.
New Landscapes of Desolation
Instead of the familiar green zones, you'll discover completely different types of territories:
- Scorched Plains - bleak landscapes with sporadic patches of withered grass and mud
- Abandoned Forests - three variants (regular, birch, and dark) with sparse trees devoid of leaves
- Deserted Farmlands - areas where agriculture once thrived, but all vegetation has long since disappeared
- Overgrown Parklands - fields with tall grass and occasional coniferous trees
- Dehydrated Tropics - tropical zones suffering from lack of moisture, rendering them almost lifeless
- Dried Savanna - transformed version of standard savanna with fewer plants, clay, and red sand
- Bushlands - rare savanna sub-biome almost entirely composed of red sand with scattered bushes
- Frozen Wastelands - unique snow-covered areas made of ice, snow layers, and stone instead of soil and grass
- Dead Coniferous Forests - colder and more inhospitable version of the regular taiga
Since the modification uses only standard Minecraft blocks, it has minimal impact on game performance, making it an excellent choice for any player.
Graphic design for the modification was handled by Vouniern, who created the memorable icon and project name.
