What Does Bobby Do?
Bobby is a Minecraft modification that allows you to set render distances higher than the server's view-distance setting. This capability persists even after reconnecting to the server.
How It Works
The mod records and saves all chunks sent by the server to a special folder .minecraft/.bobby
. When a chunk is outside the server's standard view distance, Bobby loads it from the saved data and displays it to the player.
Additional Feature: Fallback World
There's also an option to use an existing single-player world to load chunks that the server has never sent. To use this feature, simply rename the world folder (not the world name, but the folder name!) to "bobby-fallback".
Compatibility
The mod supports Rubidium and Oculus. INCOMPATIBLE with Farsight, which performs a similar function but doesn't save chunk data.
