Caelum

Caelum is a Minecraft modification designed to make the game's celestial sphere more realistic and authentic. The mod introduces significant changes to the visual representation of the sky, replacing standard game elements with more astronomically accurate ones.
Main Features
The mod offers a comprehensive approach to improving sky graphics:
- Realistic Stars: Instead of standard dots, real stars from actual space are used with their natural colors preserved
- Dynamic Moon Movement: The Moon now moves independently of the Sun, allowing for genuine lunar phases
- Seasonal Changes: Visible stars in the sky change throughout the game year, creating a seasonal shift effect
- Geographical Dependence: Sky rotation depends on your latitude — the closer to the poles, the lower the Sun is positioned
Settings and Configuration
Caelum provides extensive personalization options:
You can choose between Minecraft's standard stars and custom options, or completely disable star display. Star color settings are available (does not apply to standard stars), size adjustment, and regulation of the game year duration to change the frequency of visible constellation shifts.
Lunar cycle settings are also available — you can modify the length of the lunar month. The mod allows configuration of how player latitude affects sky display: full impact, stars only, or complete disabling of this feature. You can set coordinates that will be considered the southern and northern poles of the world.
Technical Features
The current version 1.20.1 is intended exclusively for the client side. In the future, features requiring mod installation on the server side may be added.
It's important to note that although the Sun can be observed at night in polar regions, the game will still consider this time as dark — mobs will spawn, daylight sensors won't activate, etc.
Celestial body movement is approximate and doesn't fully correspond to real astronomy (Moon and Earth orbits are perfectly circular, Earth's axial tilt is absent, and other simplifications).
Compatibility
No guarantees are given regarding compatibility with other mods, especially those that affect sky rendering in any way (such as Optifine).
