Calibrated Access
This mod introduces four new Remote Accessor items that allow players to sync with a block and access its interface from anywhere, with higher tiers enabling cross-dimensional functionality!
Start by crafting a Calibrator - the core component of all Accessors - in a smithing table by combining an Ender Pearl with Redstone. Then assemble the device itself using casing and antenna materials, sync with a functional block, and enjoy remote access!
Why is This Needed?
Development was motivated by the search for a balanced alternative to the keepInventory game rule. Frankly speaking, dying in Minecraft is frustrating! Keeping inventory after death is helpful for accidental or unfair deaths, but it can disrupt game balance - what stops a player from jumping off a cliff to quickly return to base?
Calibrated Access offers accessible systems in early gameplay stages: for example, instant "banking" of items to prevent loss in case of disaster. Worried about balance? Check the information below!
Balance
The basic Radioaccessor requires minimal investment but provides limited functionality to maintain game balance. The primary limitation comes from power consumption with each activation.
When activating the device, one or more access points are expended. Deactivated devices remain so until re-synced. Novice Accessor has three access points, Skilled has seven, Expert has fifteen. The number is small enough to encourage thoughtful usage. Unlimited Accessor doesn't consume access points.
After each activation, a 15-second grace period begins where interface access is free and the device antenna displays a visual "active" state. The visual effect on Ultimate Accessor is purely cosmetic.
Additional balancing: Novice Accessor cannot operate between dimensions. To enable this functionality, Skilled Accessor requires Quartz from the Nether, forcing players to explore other dimensions beforehand!
Another aspect: using multiple programmed devices simultaneously consumes access points that are tied to specific accounts, and the number of calibrated instances per character is limited. Attempts to abuse recalibration will deplete your resources faster.
