CANTBREATHE is the embodiment of all fears existing in the world. This sinister creature purposefully hunts its victims, seeking to inflict unbearable suffering upon them. There is no hiding from this entity, and you will never be completely safe.

About the Mod

This mod represents a reworking of the older versions of CANTBREATHE created by ClouddyVR. The developers considered community feedback and abandoned the red fleshy texture and simple AI. Now you face a classic creepy black figure with advanced artificial intelligence, a new model, and horns—after all, how could the embodiment of fear look without them?

Creature Behavior

Normal Version

Appearance occurs every 3-6 nights (configurable). The creature slowly approaches the player, stopping every 10 seconds and resuming movement after 5 seconds of inactivity. Upon detection by the player or approaching within a 32-block radius, a cutscene activates, reminiscent of Cave Dweller behavior. You have 15 seconds to run as far as possible before the creature emits a loud roar and begins pursuit. Upon capture, it immobilizes the victim and impales the head with its arm (instant death, configurable). After killing, if other players are within a 48-block radius, the creature switches to them (configurable), continuing the pursuit cycle. Disappears after 30 seconds (configurable), but the timer doubles after each player kill.

Silent Version

Appears every 1-5 nights (configurable). This version is creepier but less aggressive, featuring frightening sounds and appearance without eyes. Upon appearance, disturbing sounds are emitted to induce fear. Has two behavior variants:

Levitator — slowly floats toward the player with ghostly outstretched arms, accompanied by an increasing frightening sound. Speed increases as it gets closer, reaching maximum within a 16-block radius (0.72 speed—twice as fast as the player). Upon capture—instant death via jumpscare. Disappears after 2 minutes or after killing.

Stalker — appears far from players and begins stalking. Moves slowly for 10 seconds, then stops for 5 seconds. When approaching within a 24-block radius, switches to aggressive mode with pursuit and frightening sounds. Upon capture—instant death. Disappears after 4 minutes or after killing.

Configuration

Configuration file "cantbreathe_asphyxation.toml" is located in the config folder:

  • spawnmin — minimum time until appearance (in ticks)
  • spawnmax — maximum time until appearance
  • disappeartimer — time until disappearance in aggressive state (doubles after killing)
  • spottedradius — detection radius when player looks
  • instakill — toggle between kill cutscene and normal damage
  • damage — works only with instakill disabled
  • killdespawn — immediate disappearance after killing instead of searching for new victims
  • silentspawnmin/max — silent version appearance settings
