Catter's Enchantment Tweaks
With the release of version 1.21, Minecraft developers gave datapack creators significantly more opportunities to work with custom enchantments. I couldn't resist the temptation to experiment with them! Although many authors will likely create their own sets with numerous new effects, I decided to focus on basic capabilities. This datapack makes changes only to standard enchantments without adding completely new ones. I also try to maintain a style close to vanilla, with the goal of improving the balance of some enchantments or adding useful quality-of-life features.
Beta Version
This datapack is in the early stages of development! I've conducted minimal testing and have only added a few changes so far. More updates are planned in the future...
Current Changes
Smite
- Adds a small bonus of regular sharpness against creatures that are not undead. At level five, this is approximately equivalent to Sharpness II enchantment.
- When hitting baby zombies (and their variants), there's a chance to turn them into adult specimens, making escape and further attacks easier.
Bane of Arthropods
- Adds a small bonus of regular sharpness against creatures that are not arthropods. At level five, this is approximately equivalent to Sharpness II enchantment.
Loyalty
- When the trident hits the ground or a mob, it throws all nearby items (within a one-block radius) back to the player. The higher the enchantment level, the stronger the throw! Use this to quickly collect distant items or obtain loot from mobs killed at a distance.
Horse and Wolf Armor
- Unfortunately, it's currently impossible to allow enchanting wolf and horse armor on the enchantment table. However, they can now be enchanted on an anvil using the following enchanted books:
- Depth Strider
- Feather Falling
- Frost Walker
- Respiration
- Thorns
- Unbreaking (wolf armor only)
- Mending (wolf armor only)
Planned Changes
In the future, I plan to consider the following possibilities:
- Additional improvements for trident enchantments
- Possibility of completely revising the Mending enchantment
- Changes to the balance of protective enchantments
- And much more!
