Champions

The Champions mod introduces a system of elite mobs of various rarity levels into Minecraft, featuring enhanced stats, unique abilities, and improved loot. These champions can spawn among any hostile creatures in the game. Almost all aspects of the mod can be configured through configuration files, allowing players to adapt the difficulty and diversity of the system to their playstyle.

Champion Levels

Elite mobs are defined by their ranks. Each time a suitable creature spawns in the world, it is assigned a specific level. Most mobs remain ordinary and have no special characteristics, but some become champions. They can be recognized by the colored particles they emit, as well as the special health bar that appears on the screen when looking at them.

The higher the champion's rank, the rarer it becomes. With each level, elite mobs gain stronger stats, more abilities, and valuable loot. Rank configuration is done through the champions-ranks.toml file in the serverconfig folder, where you can edit default colors, number of affixes, growth factor, and spawn chance. New ranks can be added without limitations.

Special Abilities

Affixes are unique skills and characteristics that appear on champions. Players can see which abilities each elite mob has by looking under its health bar on the screen. This allows assessing the threat level and available abilities from a safe distance.

Affixes are also configured through the champions-affixes.toml file. Here you can disable certain abilities, set rank requirements, create blacklists for entities, and configure mandatory appearance of specific affixes on particular mobs. Unlike ranks, new affixes cannot be added.

Available abilities:

Adaptable - Champion takes less and less damage from the same attack type Arctic - Continuously fires homing projectiles that slow targets Dampening - Reduces damage from indirect attacks Desecrating - Periodically creates a cloud of harming under the target Enkindling - Continuously fires homing projectiles that damage and ignite targets Hasty - Significantly increases movement speed Infested - Attacks and taking damage cause silverfish to appear and attack the target Knocking - Increased knockback from attacks, which also slows targets for a short time Lively - Regenerates 1 health per second. Increases to 5 health per second when not attacking or pursuing targets Molten - Grants fire resistance, fiery attacks, and armor penetration Magnetic - Periodically pulls targets towards itself Paralyzing - Small chance per attack to "jail" targets, making them immobile for several seconds Plagued - Infects nearby creatures with a Poison effect Reflective - A small portion of damage is reflected back to the attacker Shielding - Periodically shields itself from all damage Wounding - Attacks have a moderate chance to inflict the Wound effect, reducing healing and increasing damage taken

Additional Settings

In addition to toml files, Champions has a general configuration file where you can specify black and white lists of dimensions for champions, client-side color overrides for ranks, and values for elite mob stat growth.

Game Stages Integration

The mod supports integration with Game Stages for staged champion appearances and rank levels.
