Chicken Nerf
Changes the mechanics of obtaining chicken eggs
This mod completely reworks the system for obtaining chicken eggs in Minecraft. Instead of chickens randomly laying eggs, eggs now only appear when breeding chickens.
How it works?
When you breed two chickens using seeds (as in vanilla gameplay), they produce a random number of eggs. This change makes the gameplay more logical and balanced.
Mod advantages:
- More realistic animal breeding system
- Reduced server load due to fewer randomly created items
- Increased complexity of creating chicken farms
- Unification of breeding mechanics with other animals in the game
The mod works on servers and in single player without requiring client installation.

Compatibility with other mods
Chicken Nerf integrates with the Better Animals Plus mod, changing the breeding mechanics of the following animals:
- Geese
- Pheasants
- Turkeys
Settings
The mod supports configuration through Cloth Config and Mod Menu, but they are not required. If Cloth Config is missing, default values are used.
The quantity and type of eggs dropped is controlled through the loot table minecraft:gameplay/chicken_lay. By default, chickens produce 1 to 3 eggs.
In versions before 1.3.1, the number of eggs was configured through configuration:
- Minimum number of eggs: 1
- Maximum number of eggs: 3
