Chickens Shed Feathers
Chickens can now shed feathers instead of eggs
This datapack modifies the loot table minecraft:gameplay/chickenlay, allowing chickens to periodically drop feathers instead of their usual egg-laying behavior. This feature adds variety and realism to chicken farming.
Installation
Download this datapack to begin using it.
For game versions below 1.21.1, the installation of the additional Chickens Lay Anything datapack is mandatory, which can be found on relevant resources.
Adding during world creation
Go to the More tab, then select Data Packs. Drag and drop the downloaded files into the opened window and move them to the right panel for activation.
Note: when using versions 1.21.1 and below, ensure that this datapack is positioned above the Chickens Lay Anything pack in the list!
Installation in an existing world
Copy both downloaded files into your world's datapacks/ folder. To locate the world folder, select it in the singleplayer menu, click Edit, and then Open World Folder.
For versions 1.21.1 and below, perform the following steps:
Load into the world. If necessary, enable commands (Pause Menu → Open to LAN → Allow Commands: ON → Start LAN World).
Enter the command:
/datapack disable file/chickens-drop-feathers-\
\ .zip
then execute:
/datapack enable file/chickens-drop-feathers-\
\ .zip after file/chickens-lay-anything-\ \.zip
This ensures that this pack is loaded after the library pack.
If needed, close and reopen the world to end the LAN game.
