Overview Chunkerror

Chunkerror is a unique datapack that fundamentally transforms the entire game world by replacing each chunk with a random other chunk from the same world. Since most chunks have different heights, this creates a fragmented landscape with huge pillars typically taken from mountain biomes.

It's important to note that along with the terrain, the original biomes of the chunks are preserved. The only thing that doesn't carry over from the original chunks are entities (mobs and other objects).

Overworld

Survival Gameplay

Although this datapack was originally created as a conceptual project, it's fully suitable for survival mode gameplay. All resources remain accessible, so you can fully complete the game under these unusual conditions.

Functionality in Different Dimensions

The datapack's effect extends not only to the Overworld but also to the Nether and the End. The Nether, representing a huge cave system, turns into a giant maze, while the End, consisting mostly of void, becomes a checkerboard of empty spaces and End islands.

Accessing the Nether

Due to slow world generation, it's recommended to stay in place for a few seconds after entering the Nether (the same applies to the End). Also note that your Nether portal might break if it ends up on a chunk border, so when first using any portal, be sure to bring obsidian with you.

Nether

Accessing the End

Since there are only 128 strongholds in the world, finding them is practically impossible. Therefore, for survival mode gameplay, it's highly recommended to install an additional datapack that allows crafting End portal frames.

The End

Known Issues

Chunk generation in this datapack occurs quite slowly. If you leave the area where chunks are already randomized, a new chunk may generate above you, which could lead to character death.

Since this is a datapack, chunk generation may cause lag. It's recommended to play with optimization mods, reduce render distance and other settings until achieving stable FPS and tick rate.

Getting Started

To install Chunkerror, simply place the datapack file in your world's "datapacks" folder. There's no need to extract the ZIP archive - just put it in the folder in its original form.
