Cobblemon: Research Tasks – Fresh Adventures Await!
The world of Pokémon in Minecraft has just gotten bigger! The Cobblemon: Research Tasks mod adds over 6,000 different quests that let you dive deeper into the universe of catching and training creatures. It covers every single one of the 1,025 existing Pokémon, with each offering between 5 and 8 unique challenges.
Out of the box, the mod is fully playable right after installing, whether you're in single-player or on a server. Baseline tasks and rewards are preset. However, modpack creators and server owners enjoy ample customization: you can edit, add, or remove challenges for specific Pokémon, tweak requirements and rewards, and even adjust prizes for the 7 tiers of overall Research Book completion. You get the Research Book immediately when entering a world for the first time, or you can craft it manually.
Examples of Research Missions
Let's see Blastoise as a sample Pokémon with all eight task categories:
- Evolve a Wartortle into a Blastoise (0/1)
- Win Pokémon battles using a Blastoise (0/30)
- Take down Flygon with a Blastoise (0/3)
- Defeat grass-type Pokémon with a Blastoise (0/10)
- Raise friendship with a Blastoise to 100+ (0/100)
- Level up a Blastoise (0/30)
- Catch a Blastoise by fishing (0/1)
- Ride a Blastoise for 3,000 blocks (0/3000)
Some Pokémon have fewer tasks—they may not be fishable, don't have an evolution stage, or aren’t rideable.
Ongoing Development Plans
The dev team (the same behind Cobblemon: Legendary Monuments) are actively working on updates. Among upcoming features you can expect:
- Swift compatibility when Cobblemon 1.7 launches, along with new riding-related tasks
- Even more quests, refined based on your feedback
- A brand‑new currency and in‑game merchant carrying unique items
- A Neoforge version
- A UI redesign
- Many other quality-of‑life improvements
The current set of over 6,000 tasks was generated by algorithmic grouping, which may have resulted in slightly inflated requirements for certain Pokémon. Got better ideas for a tailored quest design?
