Colorful Mobs

The Colorful Mobs mod fundamentally transforms the Minecraft world by implementing an innovative creature coloring system. This simple yet effective mechanic allows changing the color characteristics of any mobs, completely altering their appearance in the game.

Main Features

The system is based on RGBA technology, providing access to 16,777,216 different shades with adjustable transparency. Mobs can spawn in the world with random colors, creating a unique visual atmosphere.

Items and Their Usage

Dye Powder

Dye Powder

Dye powder is available in all possible RGB colors. When used on a mob, it changes its coloration. A killed colored mob drops powder of the corresponding color, which can be applied to other creatures.

White dye powder is crafted from paper, string, and bone meal. It serves to restore mobs' natural color and copy colored powders.

Rainbow Dust and Ghost Dust

Rainbow Dust Ghost Dust

These special variants of dye powder have unique properties. Rainbow Dust applies a random color to a creature, while Ghost Dust adjusts transparency level from 0% to 100% in 20% increments. Currently, these items are only available in creative mode.

Data Checker

Data Checker

This utility item shows detailed information about the selected creature. When used, the chat displays red, green, and blue channel values, transparency level, and entity name. This data is particularly useful when working with configuration files.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Is Bookshelf mod required? Answer: Yes, this mod depends on Bookshelf - our library containing frequently used code. This helps reduce occupied space and memory consumption. Bookshelf is distributed for free.

Question: Why do some large mobs extend beyond the preview boundaries in the color wand? Answer: Some creatures are too large to display in the interface. We are working on solving this issue in future updates.

Question: Why are there "Random Dye Powder" items in creative mode with changing colors? Answer: This is a special feature to demonstrate color diversity. Each time the creative tab is opened, these items generate random shades.

Configuration Settings

The mod supports flexible configuration through the Forge game interface:

  • Spawned colored mobs - ability for mobs to spawn with preset colors
  • Dyed spawn chance - percentage probability of colored mobs appearing
  • Drop dye powder - powder drop when mobs die
  • Dyeable players - ability to change player colors
  • Limit to valid mobs - applying colors only to specified creatures
  • Craft blank dye - ability to create white powder
  • Craft data checker - creation of the checking tool
  • Clone dyes - using the color copying recipe
