Colossal Chests - Massive Storage for Your World
What is this mod?
Regular chests in Minecraft often prove too small for storing all your treasures. The Colossal Chests mod solves this problem by allowing you to create multiblock chests of practically any size! The maximum size can be changed in the configuration settings.
How to Build a Colossal Chest?
To create such a chest, you'll need Colossal Chest Wall blocks and exactly one Colossal Chest Core block. It's in the core that all items of the multiblock structure are stored - if you break it, all contents will spill out.
Construction Requirements
The structure must be cubic in shape, with each side having equal length. The minimum structure size is two blocks. The chest must consist of wall blocks and contain exactly one core block. When the structure is properly built, the multiblock chest will visually form.
Important: you only need to build the external walls, the interior of the structure should remain hollow.
Interaction with Other Mechanisms
You can connect hoppers and pipes to the chest at the location of the Colossal Chest Core block.
Of course, you can also open the interface to manually manage the chest's contents.
Additional Features
If desired, you can add any number of Colossal Chest Interface blocks to your structure to make those spots available for connecting hoppers and pipes.
Material Varieties
In addition to wooden chests, there are variants made from all types of metals (including obsidian), similar to the Iron Chest mod. If the Iron Chest mod is installed, its chest textures are used, otherwise internal textures are applied (this can be disabled). If wooden chests are sufficient for you, metal variants can be easily disabled.
The Obsidian Colossal Chest is an upgraded version of the Diamond Colossal Chest, which has the same storage capacity but cannot explode. The wall is crafted by surrounding a diamond chest wall with eight obsidian blocks in a crafting grid.
Upgrade Tools
Upgrade and Downgrade tools allow you to increase/decrease the chest's tier to the next/previous level without having to break and replace all blocks. This requires having all necessary blocks of the next/previous tier in your inventory, and the tool will automatically replace the chest with the corresponding material while preserving its inventory. Note that the Downgrade tool can reduce inventory sizes, so items may spill out if your inventory becomes too small for the new material.
Problem Diagnostics
If you're having trouble with chest formation, you can right-click with an empty hand on the incomplete structure to see why it won't form.
Slot Calculation Formula
Formula for calculating number of slots = ceil((diameter ^ 3) 27 material_factor)
Material factors:
- Wood: 1
- Copper: 1.666
- Iron: 2
- Silver: 2.666
- Gold: 3
- Diamond: 4
- Obsidian: 4
And finally, the most colossal chest of them all! (Crafted with a Chest Wall and a Wood Plank)
This mod collects anonymized startup data, this can be disabled in the configuration file and adheres to Minecraft's snooper settings.
