Compacted Tools & Blocks

Compacted Tools & Blocks is a lightweight mod for Minecraft versions 1.14.4 and above, offering new possibilities for efficient storage and utilization of construction materials, particularly cobblestone. Currently, two levels of stone block compaction are available, with plans to expand the compression system for other stone types in the future.

STONE-BASED TOOLS

The modification introduces a complete arsenal of specialized tools created from compacted stone materials:

Hammers: Used for large-scale resource extraction, covering a 3×3 block area. Compared to regular stone tools, compacted variants demonstrate increased durability, efficiency, and better enchantment receptivity.

Heavy Axes: Tools for extensive tree cutting and territory clearing that also operate within a 3×3 block radius.

Excavators: Extended-range shovel analogs that can dig earth and similar materials over a 3×3 block area.

Combined Tools (Paxels): Universal multitools combining pickaxe, axe, and shovel functionality, but designed to mine only one block at a time. Their distinctive feature is tripled durability compared to base materials.

Each level of tool compaction provides progressive characteristic improvements. While the durability of compacted variants doesn't reach ninefold increases compared to previous levels, they are significantly more practical to use than carrying nine separate tools, and are also more efficient and better for enchanting. All tools can be repaired using appropriate materials.

INNOVATIVE STONE TORCHES

One of the mod's unique features is the stone torch system, which revolutionizes traditional in-game lighting:

Stone torches are created using coal/charcoal and special stone rods. The compaction system significantly improves fuel efficiency - switching to compacted rods multiplies torch output. Double compaction allows obtaining up to 81 torches from a single unit of coal, though this requires substantial cobblestone reserves for material creation.

The most impressive feature of stone torches is their ability to be placed underwater with unique visual glow effects:

This feature opens new possibilities for creating underwater structures and exploring ocean depths.

PORTABLE DEVICES

Pocket Compactor: An automatic device that transforms cobblestone entering the inventory into compacted block versions. Activated/deactivated by sneak-right-clicking empty space. Enchanting with "Efficiency" increases compaction speed, while "Unbreaking" reduces device wear.

Pocket Impacter: Device for automatic collection and storage of virtually unlimited cobblestone. Handling the tool simplifies cobblestone mining and placement - simply hitting blocks breaks them instantly, or right-clicking places them.

REPAIR AND CRAFTING SYSTEM

All tools made from stone or compacted materials can be repaired directly in inventory or crafting tables by combining them with appropriate cobblestone levels. This system ensures extended use of valuable compacted tools:

For those creating compatible mods: stone rods use Forge tags "forge:rods/stone", while compacted versions are designated as "forge:rods/compacted/cobblestone/single" and "forge:rods/compacted/cobblestone/double". Compacted stone blocks also have corresponding identifiers in the Forge system.
