Compound Origins

Compound Origins is an addon for the Origins mod that introduces a system of composite origins. Instead of choosing a single ready-made origin, players can assemble their own unique set of abilities by combining mini-origins from five different categories.

To create a character, select the "Custom origin" option in the standard origin layer. All mini-origins within the same category are balanced in terms of strength and utility, ensuring that using composite origins doesn't make the game too easy.

Category System

Players choose one mini-origin from each of the five categories:

Folk

• Dragonen - have wings (better than elytra), but consume more food
• Luamane - night vision (toggleable), chance to avoid projectile damage, increased food consumption
• Faunan - faster movement, higher jumps (toggleable), reduced fall damage, increased food consumption
• Wraitscal - invisibility (toggleable), wall climbing, increased food consumption
• Benthite - extended block reach, see mobs and players through walls (toggleable), increased food consumption
• Slipfin - short-range teleportation (active ability), increased food consumption

Affinity

• Fire - immunity to fire and lava, freezing in cold water and darkness in cold biomes, choice between fireball or lava spit
• Water - water breathing, normal block digging underwater, damage from sunlight in hot biomes outside water, cannot extinguish fire by punching, choice between freezing projectile or ice wall
• Earth - hand digging like pickaxe and shovel, extended negative status effects, choice between stone projectiles or stone wall
• Air - lightning immunity, melee retaliation, slowed and exhausted in water, choice between targeted lightning or pushing enemies away
• Nature - free plant fertilization, faster breaking of wood and plant blocks, extended wither effect, greatly increased exhaustion when mining underground, choice between poison projectile or wall of roots

Talents

• Increased maximum health
• Improved armor
• Reduced food consumption
• Accelerated regeneration
• Slow passive health regeneration
• Increased attack speed
• Reduced knockback
• Ability to eat grass and leaves
• Faster affinity ability recharge

Defects A

• Carnivore
• Herbivore
• Reduced maximum health
• Weakened armor
• Increased food consumption
• Slowed regeneration
• Reduced attack speed
• Slower affinity ability recharge

Defects B

• Reduced maximum health
• Weakened armor
• Increased food consumption
• Slowed regeneration
• Reduced attack speed

The addon also adds a recipe for the Orb of Origins to switch origins (can be disabled).
