Crooked Crooks - Innovative Hooks for Minecraft

Banner for the Crooked Crooks mod

At first, a beginning of a SkyBlock run is shown, with a diamond-shaped oak slab ground and a grown tree in the middle. A player (who can be recognized as Ennui, the developer) is shown breaking the leaves with a long wooden crook. Then, the view fades to the Overworld, in a plains full of sheep. The same player is shown pulling sheep towards herself, and said sheep proceeds to follow her as she walks away. The loop through both views repeats after that.

The Crooked Crooks mod presents its own version of a classic tool from Ex Nihilo and its many successors - the crook! Our crooks not only retain the classic property of multiplying drops from leaves but also extend this effect to grass, have the ability to attract mobs, and manage sheep!

A wooden crook can be crafted from four sticks on a crafting table, as shown in the image below:

The recipe for a Wooden Crook

Using the same template, you can create stone crooks from cobblestone, bone crooks from bones, and iron crooks from iron ingots! Exact recipes can be viewed in the gallery.

Dependencies

Starting from version 1.21.4, this mod requires only the Fabric API to be installed. As for the loader, Fabric Loader, as well as Quilt Loader, are available. Starting from Crooked Crooks 4.0.0, this mod is fully compatible with NeoForge without additional dependencies.

Configuration

Currently, the mod has one configuration option that allows disabling the Shepherd's Touch effect (and, as a consequence, sheep management). This can be done by dragging the shepherds_touch.txt file to the disabled folder inside the .minecraft/config/crooked_crooks folder. A demonstration of the configuration system can be viewed in the video. Additionally, you can customize which blocks should multiply their drops when using a crook, either through the block tag #crooked_crooks:multiplies_drops (Fabric, always multiplies by 3) or through the data map crooked_crooks:multiplies_drops (NeoForge, custom multiplier). The block tag used to determine which blocks can be broken with a crook is #crooked_crooks:mineable_with_crook.
