ConnectedTexturesMod for Fabric

ATTENTION: This mod is no longer supported by developers. For connected textures functionality, it is recommended to use Continuity.

Project Overview

ConnectedTexturesMod for Fabric is an adaptation of the original ConnectedTexturesMod for the Fabric platform, maintaining full compatibility with CTM/Chisel format resource packs. This allows using the same texture sets without additional modifications on both platforms. The mod includes additional features and fixes for errors present in the original version.

This is an exclusively client-side mod requiring Fabric API installation and utilizing Fabric Rendering API for performance optimization and compatibility. However, this means incompatibility with Sodium (unless Indium is installed) and Optifine.

Functional Capabilities

CTM/CTMF provides resource packs with the ability to create dynamic models by adding custom JSON files to model or texture metadata. It's important to note that the mod itself does not add connected textures — a separate resource pack is required for this. A public API is also available, allowing other mods to add their own texture types for use through metadata.

Comparison with Continuity

Continuity is an alternative Fabric mod that also implements connected textures functionality through resource packs. The main difference lies in supported formats: Continuity works with Optifine/MCPatcher format, while CTMF supports CTM/Chisel format. These formats are incompatible with each other, and some features are available only in one of them. No tools exist for conversion between formats.

Key point: CTMF does not support Optifine format resource packs. Use Continuity for this purpose.

Terminology

The term "CTM" has dual meaning. In the context of Optifine/MCPatcher (which appeared several years before ConnectedTexturesMod), it means "Connected Texture Map/Mapping". On this page and in all related project materials, "CTM" refers to "ConnectedTexturesMod" unless otherwise specified.

Useful Resources

A complete list of CTM/Chisel format resource packs is available in the corresponding Gist. For a basic set of connected textures (glass, sandstone, bookshelves), Simple CT can be used.

Detailed information about CTM/Chisel format, mod details, and porting instructions are available in CTM and CTMF wikis.
