About the Modification

Dark's Tools and Utilities offers a diverse set of tools and mechanisms for solving various in-game tasks. The distinctive feature of this mod is its focus on reusability and reducing inventory clutter.

The main idea is creating universal multi-tools that combine multiple functions in a single item. The key element is the MultiTool Gun - a weapon that can be upgraded by adding new tools, actions, and settings.

  • Mode switching system - changing names, textures, and functions of the multi-tool
  • Melter mode - smelting blocks
  • Freezer mode - freezing blocks
  • Fluid vacuum mode - collecting fluids into containers
  • Fluid removal mode - removing fluids without block updates
  • Fluid destruction mode - sending fluids to the void

How to Use MultiTool

After crafting and upgrading, the tool is easy to use:

  • Ctrl + Shift + scroll - switch active tool group
  • Shift + scroll - switch active mode
  • Right click - activate selected mode

Fluid Handling Modes

The mod includes several modes for working with fluids:

Fluid vacuum mode collects fluids from the world into buckets and containers from the player's inventory.

Fluid removal mode performs the same function but doesn't trigger block updates. Useful for clearing water bodies without losing the fluid.

Fluid destruction mode is similar to the previous one but completely removes the fluid. Perfect for draining areas before construction.

Fluid placement mode (not yet added) will allow pouring fluids from containers into the world to create ponds and lakes.

Note: Currently, only water is supported. Support for other fluids will be added in future versions after code testing.

Requirements for Fluid Operations

For storing fluids, the player must have suitable containers in their inventory. These can be buckets (if the mod has registered them for the fluid), as well as containers supporting IFluidHandler or IFluidContainerItem (IC2 cells, SBM buckets, SBM fluid cans, and others).

Placing fluids requires having appropriate items in the inventory and the fluid itself supporting placement.

Creation History

The mod was created from the need to have building tools without installing large modifications. Instead of creating numerous magical or simple tools, the MultiTool concept was developed, based on principles used in VoltzEngine and Atomic Science. The idea is to provide a wide range of functions with minimal inventory filling.
