Days Gone By

ATTENTION: Currently contains bugs when used on servers. Working on fixing the issue.

Days Gone By is a simple yet dramatic modification that displays the number of days passed in your Minecraft world. One glance and you immediately know how much time has passed since the beginning of your adventure.

The mod is in active development, so I greatly appreciate any bug reports and suggestions for improvement. This is my first modification, so I hope it proves useful and stable.

How It Works?

Every morning, after you wake up, a dramatic day counter appears on the screen with accompanying sound effects for maximum dramatic effect. The mod requires installation on both client and server, but doesn't use mixins, ensuring good compatibility with most other modifications. Note: has not been tested in modified dimensions where sleeping is possible.

Configuration and Customization

The mod offers extensive customization options, making it a great addition to any modpack. You can:

Replace sound effects: Create a resource pack with the "dgb" folder and replace the "custom.ogg" file

Customize appearance: Text format can be modified through configuration:

[{"text":"Day {num}","bold":true,"color":"blue"}, {"text":" ({roman_num})","color":"gray"}]

Configuration Files

Main settings are stored in two files:

  • DaysGoneBy-Core.toml — core mod operation parameters
  • DaysGoneBy-Calendar.toml — calendar system settings

Configuration files contain detailed parameter descriptions, making setup intuitive. However, please note that when using commands to skip time, sound effects may not work correctly.

Current Limitations and Development Plans

In the current version, there are issues with the calendar system operation due to suboptimal event handling implementation. In upcoming updates, plans include making the mod more stable for server use, adding compatibility with time manipulation commands like /time set, and expanding functionality for modpack creators.
