Deadly End Phantoms
This project originally started as an experimental development that embodies the concept: "What if phantoms returned to the End?"
The modification adds Specters — the End version of phantoms that fully live up to their nickname "Monsters of the Night Skies". Unlike ordinary phantoms, they relentlessly pursue players in flight.
Configuration
You can enable or disable the spawning of Specters in the End Midlands and End Highlands, adjust their spawn frequency and group sizes (minimum and maximum). There's also an option to completely disable standard phantoms, making Specter the only "Monster of the Night Skies".
Pro Tip
Invisibility potions and thoughtful bridge construction are key to survival when traversing the End. At ground level, Specters won't detect you even if you're wearing armor, but if you're in an End City and rise to their altitude, you'll likely enter their detection range.
Important Notes
Enjoy the combination of levitation from Shulkers and Specter attacks in End Cities — this is an intentional feature that won't be disabled. The main goal of this mod is to make ascending buildings in cities more challenging, since in vanilla gameplay you can easily cheat the system using Shulker levitation effects.
Specters spawn in the End naturally like Endermen, not due to insomnia. Since you can't sleep in the End, there's no point tying their spawning to sleep, so they appear at a consistent, manageable rate. If you're not using invisibility potions, carry a shield, or better yet, a backup shield.
The End should be a challenge as it's the final game area. If you're skilled enough to defeat the Ender Dragon without cheats, you can handle a few flappy bois on your way to getting your Elytra.
