Diamonds are Rare – A Scarcity Overhaul

Diamonds are Rare is a minimalist design mod that completely transforms the approach to obtaining and using diamonds in the game, making this process multi-stage and more complex yet logical.

Radical changes affect diamond ore - it now appears much less frequently, with most of it replaced by "sparse" variants that don't drop as finished diamonds. Instead, they yield diamond fragments that require further processing.

To acquire diamonds in their traditional form, you'll need to either embark on extended searches for classic deposits (which no longer guarantee whole diamond drops) or find a specialist capable of restoring fragments through special rituals - naturally, for a certain price. However, you'll first need to earn their trust.

This mod pairs excellently with other modifications that fill the gap between iron and diamond, making each progression stage meaningful. There will be no more standard digging to level Y=16 immediately after spawning in a new world.

Compatibility

The mod replaces diamond ore generation and loot tables, adds one new item, two blocks, and six new trade offers. For compatibility testing with other mods, personal testing is recommended.
