New Raid Difficulty Levels
The Difficult Raids mod introduces four additional raid difficulty levels that turn ordinary skirmishes into epic battles:
Hero – Moderately challenging raids with improved equipment on standard illagers and the appearance of several new enemy types.
Legend – The mod's basic difficulty where you'll face a mix of regular illagers and powerful new enemies added by the modification.
Master – A serious challenge for experienced players. Illagers possess significantly enhanced equipment, attacks, and spells.
Grandmaster – The ultimate challenge! Illagers don't hold back and send huge armies. The village will likely not survive – try to at least survive yourself.
Insanity Mode
For the most daring players, Insanity Mode is available, which can be activated with the /difficultraids_insanitymode command. In this mode, the number of illagers in each wave is multiplied by a configurable value.
New Illager Types
The mod adds various new enemies, each with unique abilities:
Warrior – Vindicators who mastered swords instead of axes, increasing their attack and movement speed.
Tank – Illagers in full sets of enchanted armor, sacrificing damage for survivability.
Dart – Incredibly fast enemies with lightning-fast attacks but low health.
Assassin – Fast illagers targeting villagers and iron golems rather than players.
Illusioner – Creates copies of themselves, inflicts blindness, and shoots arrows.
Conductor – Evokers who mastered lightning: release regular bolts, concentrated strikes, lightning rings, and slowing bolts.
Necromancer – Revives fallen enemies as zombies and skeletons, can summon armored minions or swarms of short-lived skeletons.
Shaman – Buffs allies with resistance and strength, weakens enemies with various effects.
Frostmage – Slows enemies around themselves, freezes in place, and pelts with snowballs.
Elite Raiders
In certain waves, elite illagers appear – the most powerful forces of the illager army:
Nuaos, the Honored – Absorbs received damage and releases it against enemies.
Xydrax, Windborne – Wind master creating air columns and powerful vortices.
Modur, Harbinger of Thunder – Surrounded by electricity, unleashes ruthless storms, homing lightning, and concentrated discharges.
Voldon, the Eternal – Necromancer invulnerable until his familiars fall.
Raid Loot
After winning a raid, valuable resources appear in the village center. Loot quantity increases with difficulty level, including enchanted gear sometimes exceeding vanilla limitations.
Grandmaster raid victors receive a Grandmaster Armor set with high protection, constant regeneration II, and speed I.
New Totems and Enchantments
The mod adds unique Totem of Undying variants, each reviving and providing additional effects:
- Totem of Invisibility – invisibility and speed
- Totem of Lightning – strikes nearby enemies with lightning
- Totem of Poison – poisons nearby enemies
- Totem of Speed – immense speed for short duration
- Totem of Vengeance – regeneration and strength
- Totem of Destiny – kills your killer and damages nearby enemies
- Totem of Levitation – makes nearby enemies float
- Totem of Protection – summons two iron golems
- Totem of Freezing – freezes nearby enemies
- Totem of Persistence – may not be consumed when used
- Totem of Teleportation – teleports to safe location
- Totem of Fireballs – launches fireballs in all directions
Also added are seven new treasure enchantments:
- Bane of Raiders – increased damage to raiders
- Defender's Vanish – chance to become invisible when taking damage
- Lightning Resistance – reduced damage from lightning
- Projectile Evasion – chance to avoid projectile damage
- Critical Strike – increased critical hit chance
- Critical Burst – increased critical hit damage
- Critical Resistance – small chance to greatly reduce received damage
Configuration and Compatibility
Difficult Raids offers extensive settings through server configuration and datapacks. The mod is compatible with most modifications that don't alter raid structure through mixins.
Recommended to use alongside Guard Villagers mod for additional help in village defense.
Raid difficulty is determined by the combined Bad Omen level of all players: level 1 – standard raid, levels 2-5 correspond to new difficulty levels.
