Difficult Raids - Compatibility Edition

Do You Enjoy Raids Against Hostile Villagers?

Tired of the simplicity of standard attacks? Want to receive truly valuable rewards from village residents for saving their lives? This mod is made exactly for you!

Main mod image

Difficult Raids is a fork of the original modification created with permission from CalculuMaster. This version is designed to improve compatibility with other mods and already includes many compatible additions.

Completely New Raid Difficulty System

The mod introduces four additional levels of raid difficulty, each presenting a unique challenge to players:

Raid Difficulty Levels

  • Hero — Slightly more challenging battle experience against raiders. The main force consists of standard hostile villagers but with upgraded equipment; several new enemy types appear.

  • Legend — The insurgents now know about your skills. At this level, you will encounter both regular hostile villagers and powerful new types added by this modification.

  • Master — You have angered the hostile villagers greatly. This difficulty includes similar forces as at the "Legend" level but with much more powerful equipment, attacks, and spells.

  • Grandmaster — Extreme challenge! Hostile villagers act at full power, sending hordes of enemies every wave. The village probably won't survive, so you'd better focus on your own survival...

Insanity Mode

The mod also includes an optional Insanity Mode that can be activated with the command /difficultraids_insanitymode. In this mode, the number of raiders that spawn is multiplied by a configurable value. Are you sure this endeavor is worth it?

New Tactics and Mechanics

  • Raiders with weapons will spawn with enchanted items at any difficulty
  • Special "Elite Waves" contain powerful bosses
  • Raids scale based on the number of players for balanced challenge
  • Recommended to use together with the Guard Villagers mod for maximum support

Starting Higher Difficulty Raids

The level of the Bad Omen effect on all players participating in the raid determines the raid difficulty:

  • Bad Omen 1 — Standard (vanilla)
  • Bad Omen 2 — Hero
  • Bad Omen 3 — Legend
  • Bad Omen 4 — Master
  • Bad Omen 5 — Grandmaster

To obtain a high level of Bad Omen, defeat multiple pillager captains — each defeated captain increases the effect level.

Army of New Hostile Villager Types

Basic New Types

  • Warrior — Improved vindicators with swords instead of axes, with increased attack speed and movement
  • Tank — Possess full sets of enchanted armor at the cost of damage
  • Dart — Incredibly fast enemies with minimal health, delivering multiple strikes per second
  • Assassin — Similar to darts, but target village residents and iron golems
  • Illusioner — Standard hostile villagers previously unavailable in the game, creating copies and applying blindness effects

Magical Types

  • Conductor — Modified evokers mastering the art of electricity, capable of summoning powerful lightning strikes
  • Necromancer — Resurrect fallen enemies as zombies and skeletons with full armor
  • Shaman — Do not attack directly, but strengthen allies and weaken targets with various effects
  • Frostmage — Emit a slowing aura, freeze enemies, and bombard with snowballs

Elite Raiders - Raid Bosses

On specific waves, legendary Elite Raiders appear — the strongest warriors of the hostile villager army:

  • Nuaos, the Honored — A warrior capable of absorbing and reflecting enemy damage
  • Xydrax, Windborne — An evoker controlling air currents and creating powerful vortexes
  • Modur, Harbinger of Thunder — Enveloped in electricity, summons storms and homing lightning bolts
  • Voldon, the Eternal — A necromancer invulnerable while his servants are alive

The number of elite waves depends on the raid difficulty: Hero (2), Legend (3), Master (5), Grandmaster (7).

Loot and Reward System

After successfully completing a raid, valuable resources appear in the village center. The quantity and quality of loot significantly increases with higher difficulty:

Unique Sets

  • Grandmaster Armor set with high protection level and constant regeneration and speed effects when the full set is equipped

Totem of Undying Variants

New unique totems are looted, each not only reviving upon death but also providing additional effects:

  • Totem of Invisibility — Grants invisibility and speed for retreat
  • Totem of Lightning — Strikes nearby enemies with lightning in a small radius
  • Totem of Poison — Poisons surrounding enemies
  • Totem of Speed — Temporarily grants incredible speed
  • Totem of Vengeance — Regeneration and strength for revenge
  • Totem of Destiny — Kills the attacking enemy and damages others
  • Totem of Levitation — Lifts enemies into the air
  • Totem of Protection — Summons two iron golems to assist
  • Totem of Freezing — Freezes surrounding enemies
  • Totem of Persistence — May not be consumed when used
  • Totem of Teleportation — Teleports to a safer location
  • Totem of Fireballs — Launches fireballs in all directions

New Enchantments

  • Bane of Raiders — Increased damage to hostile villagers
  • Defender's Vanish — Chance to become invisible when taking damage
  • Lightning Resistance — Reduced damage from electrical attacks
  • Projectile Evasion — Chance to ignore arrow damage
  • Critical Strike — Increases chance for critical damage
  • Critical Burst — Increases critical hit damage
  • Critical Resistance — Chance to significantly reduce incoming damage

Configuration and Compatibility

The mod offers high customization through server configurations and datapacks. Increased difficulty can be disabled by setting the level to "Standard".

Special Compatibility

This version includes explicit compatibility with:

  • Guard Villagers — Guards help defend against attacks
  • Hunter Illager — Hunter hostile villagers
  • Enchant with Mob — Enchanters
  • It Takes a Pillage — Archers, skirmishers, legionaries
  • Savage and Ravage — Griefers, executioners, tricksters, iceologers
  • Respillaged — Igniters, spiritcallers, absorbers, and many others

As well as compatibility with village recruitment and worker mods.

Wave System and Future Plans

Enemy populations in raids can also be configured via datapacks. Future plans include adding more compatibility with other mods, balancing, new loot items, and hostile villager types.

This mod guarantees an entirely new dimension of challenge in battles against raiders — prepare to experience the true power of the hostile villager army!
