Droplight
Transform the Item Dropping Experience!
The Droplight mod introduces completely new features to the game that make the moment of receiving loot truly exciting and visually appealing.
Main Features
Sound Effects for Item Drops
Items now produce unique sounds when they hit the ground! The mod includes over 20 specially created sound effects. While the default settings work excellently, you can completely customize the sound to your preferences.
Loot Tossing Effect
When defeating mobs, items will spectacularly fly into the air one by one, creating an impressive rotational movement. This emphasizes the value of loot and makes receiving multiple items simultaneously particularly satisfying.
Visual Effects for Items
Rare items receive special visual effects when on the ground - glowing light beams and sparkling particles. By default, the color of these effects matches the item's name color in the tooltip. All visual elements are fully customizable: you can choose which items will have beams and/or sparks, as well as set individual colors for specific items. Two beam display modes are available: smooth and pixelated for a more blocky look. If your modpack contains particularly valuable items, you can highlight them with special visual effects!
Dependencies
Droplight requires the Iceberg and Prism mods to function. The Fabric version also needs Forge Config API Port.
Client/Server
For full functionality of all features in multiplayer mode, the mod must be installed on both the client and server. This also applies to single-player games opened for local network play - all players must have the mod installed. If the mod is only installed on the client, only some features will work.
Features Working Without Mod on Server:
Forge:
- Item light beams
- Item rotation
Fabric:
- Item light beams
- Item rotation
- Particles
- Drop sounds
Configuration
All aspects of the mod are fully customizable through the droplight-common.toml configuration file located in the config folder. To customize the mod's behavior, examine the available options in this file.
Some parameters accept item lists, for example, which sounds to use for specific items and which items should have custom beam colors. All options working with item lists use Iceberg selectors.
Options accepting colors use Prism definitions.
Sound Events
Droplight includes several custom sound events for customizing item drop sounds:
- droplight:item.misc.drop_legendary
- droplight:item.misc.drop_light
- droplight:item.misc.drop_medium_soft
- droplight:item.misc.drop_medium_hard
- droplight:item.misc.drop_heavy
- droplight:item.misc.drop_tool
- droplight:item.misc.drop_block
- droplight:item.misc.drop_wood
- droplight:item.misc.drop_gem
- droplight:item.misc.drop_glass
- droplight:item.misc.drop_wet
- droplight:item.misc.drop_misc1
- droplight:item.misc.drop_misc2
- droplight:item.misc.drop_misc3
In addition to these, you can use any standard Minecraft sounds or sounds from mods/resource packs.
Known Issues
Droplight uses custom shaders to display light beams and sparks on medium and high graphics settings. Popular shader pack mods like Iris do not support custom shaders from mods and disable them. To ensure compatibility, Droplight automatically switches to low graphics quality when using shader packs. Best compatibility is observed with BSL, good compatibility with Complementary, with others results may vary.
