Ecologics
Tired of the monotonous vanilla biomes in Minecraft? The Ecologics mod offers a fresh perspective on familiar locations, adding engaging creatures, unique blocks, and interesting mechanics while fully preserving the spirit of the original game.
🏝️ Coastal Update
Beach biomes are now adorned with lush coconut palms! Be careful—ripe coconuts might fall on your head. Some fruits break into food, while others release coconut crabs. These small crustaceans are protected by a sturdy shell that withstands several strong hits. If attacked, they defend themselves, but if their shell breaks, they flee in fear. Crabs drop claws that can be cooked or used as shears.
Ripe coconuts yield two slices that remove all player effects, like milk. After eating, the husk remains—it can be used in recipes as a bowl or composted.
Shorelines now feature seashells, which craft a miniature yet impressive sandcastle. It can be placed on turtle eggs to hide them from zombies and other mobs. Eggs under the castle continue to develop and hatch.
A new tropical music disc can be found in buried treasures.
🌵 Desert Update
Deserts are now inhabited by camels! They can be tamed and ridden by two players. Add a chest for extra storage. Camels eat dead bushes and cacti, and breed using prickly pears.
Mature cacti grow prickly pear fruits. The raw fruit slightly damages you, but becomes safe after cooking.
New desert ruins contain pots with loot inside. Each holds up to 9 items, visible only when broken. Pots change patterns with Shift+RMB using a pickaxe. A comparator shows fill level, and adding an item sends a brief redstone signal.
New ruins are scattered across the desert.
❄️ Snowy Biomes Update
Snowy and icy areas are now home to penguins! They gather in flocks, and near a group of 4+ penguins, you gain a regeneration effect. Birds catch fish and eat them. They breed with fish, carrying the egg at their feet until it hatches.
Upon maturing, penguins shed feathers used to brew a Potion of Sliding. It lets you slide on any block as if on ice.
Icy biomes have patches of thin ice. Jumping on it causes cracks, and standing breaks it, dropping you into water.
Build winter creations with new snow and ice bricks!
🌳 Plains Update
Plains gained a unique tree—walnut trees! Leaves drop walnuts that can be eaten.
The biome now has squirrels. Feeding them walnuts earns their trust. Trusting squirrels pick up saplings and plant them nearby. They breed with honeycomb if they trust the player.
Plains remain spacious fields but with new details to enliven the landscape.
🌸 Lush Caves Update
Added azalea logs and flowering azalea logs, replacing oak on vanilla trees. They craft into planks and decorative blocks, perfectly matching moss and lush caves.
A beautiful azalea flower is obtained with shears from flowering leaves, bushes, or logs.
Moss carpet now stacks like snow layers.
Lush cave surfaces are decorated with surface moss. It can be placed on blocks up to 3 times, increasing coverage.
This content was moved from the Better Azalea mod as it fits Ecologics' theme better.
✅ Compatibility and Configuration
The mod integrates with Every Compat, automatically adding wood compatibility with blocks from Quark, Decorative Blocks, Architects Palette, Macaw's Mods, Another Furniture, and other popular mods.
On Fabric, configuration is via Mod Menu. On Forge 1.18, a standard config file is used. On Forge 1.19, most settings are configured via datapacks due to changes in biome modification.
🔄 Version 1.16.5 Support
Forge discontinued support for 1.16.5, making 1.18.2 the minimum version. Thus, the mod won't update for outdated versions. Backporting requires author permission.
