Edible Storage

The Edible Storage mod offers a unique approach to using chests and barrels in Minecraft. Simply place a regular chest or barrel in a crafting table, and you'll get an edible version that can be consumed as food.

This feature is particularly useful in the early stages of the game in difficult biomes where it's hard to find animals for sustenance – for example, in cold snowy regions. Additionally, the mod remains relevant in the mid-game: when eating an edible chest, you get oak planks, and from an edible barrel – spruce planks.

This mechanic opens up interesting possibilities for resource conversion. If you find yourself in a dark oak forest or any other area lacking the wood types you need, you can transform your existing materials into oak or spruce with an 8:1 ratio. This is a balanced solution – it still encourages players to seek out new wood types but saves them from having to embark on a long journey just for a few building planks.
