Effect Descriptions

The Effect Descriptions mod significantly simplifies understanding potion effects in Minecraft. Instead of constantly referring to the wiki or memorizing all effects, you get convenient tooltips right in the game.

Main Features

When you hover over an item with a potion effect (bottle, arrow tip, or potion), a brief description of that effect appears in the tooltip. This works not only for standard Minecraft effects but also for effects from other mods.

But that's not all! If your character already has active effects, simply hover over the corresponding icons in the inventory to immediately see their descriptions.

Compatibility and Installation

The mod is fully compatible with Forge and Fabric but requires installation of Puzzles Lib for both versions. For the Fabric version, Fabric API and Forge Config API Port are additionally required.

Important: the mod must be installed on the client.

Configuration

Settings can be easily changed directly in the game through the mod menu. For Fabric, you'll need to install Mod Menu, and for Forge - Forge Config Screens.

If you prefer manual configuration, all configuration files are located in the .minecraft/config folder and have names like MOD_ID-client.toml, MOD_ID-common.toml, or MOD_ID-server.toml.

Inspiration

This project is inspired by the popular Potion Descriptions mod by azmalent and Enchantment Descriptions mod by Darkhax, which significantly improved the user experience in Minecraft.
