Installation

You'll need Minecraft Forge for installation. Download the latest stable version of the jar file for your Minecraft version. Also install the required McLib mod. Place the files in the mods folder and launch the game.

After successful installation, Emoticons will appear in Minecraft's mod list. If the mod doesn't show up, check your installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: I don't like Emoticons animations, but the emotes are very cool. Can I disable them?

Answer: Yes, you can disable them in McLib's control panel (Ctrl + 0, check for conflicting keys in Options - Controls if it doesn't work) by enabling the Disable non-emote animations option.

Question: Will the mod be ported to other Minecraft versions?

Answer: No, the mod will remain only for versions 1.12.2 and 1.8.9.

Question: I'm using version 1.8.9 and getting a message about "mclib"?

Answer: You need to install McLib for 1.8.9 for the mod to work properly.

Question: I'm playing with friends on a server, and why can't I see their emotes, or they can't see mine?

Answer: To see other players' emotes, the mod must be installed on the server. Without the mod on the server, emotes won't be synchronized.

Question: Can support be added for mod X?

Answer: No, support for other mods will not be added.

Question: Can I add custom emotes?

Answer: Yes, watch the tutorial video on creating custom emotes! However, they won't be synchronized between clients. You'll need to manually share emote files with other players.

Question: Can custom music be added for emotes?

Answer: No, because I don't have the time/skills to create music for every emote, and using original audio would be illegal. However, you can replace sounds in the Emoticons jar file. Note that these sounds will loop.

Question: I saw emotes being used in a Minecraft client. Is this allowed?

Answer: Before January 18, 2022, only Badlion Client, Lunar Client, Crystal Client, and a few others purchased a license to use my work in their software for profit. Other clients were doing this illegally.

Question: Can I use this code in my Minecraft client?

Answer: Read the license and draw your own conclusion.
