Endermite Expansion
New Features for Forgotten Creatures
Endermites in Minecraft have always seemed useless and annoying. This datapack changes their behavior, turning them into valuable gameplay elements with three key improvements.
Extended Lifespan
Endermites no longer automatically disappear 2 minutes after spawning. They behave like regular hostile mobs and despawn only under standard conditions, unless you name them with a nametag.
Crying Obsidian Farm
When an endermite stands on an obsidian block and the mobGriefing
setting is enabled, there's a 20% chance every minute that the block will turn into crying obsidian. This creates a renewable method for obtaining this rare material without needing to barter with piglins.
Reproduction and Experience Farming
If you drop an amethyst shard near an endermite, it will consume it. There's a 10% chance that the endermite will duplicate and create a copy (similar to allay mechanics). Since killing an endermite gives the player 3 experience points, this turns amethyst shards into an experience source (10 shards = 3 XP).
Configuration and Compatibility
All probabilities can be adjusted to your needs, and unwanted functions can be disabled by editing the datapack files.
The datapack is fully compatible with other modifications. However, if another mod or datapack changes endermite lifetime data, this expansion will take priority.
Safe to install and remove at any time without consequences for your world.
