Enigmatic Graves

Mod Image

Undoubtedly the best graves mod for Minecraft.

Main Features

Features Section

When a character dies, all their items are automatically placed in a special grave for safe storage. To retrieve your items, simply approach the grave and right-click or crouch near it.

Only the grave owner or players with administrator privileges can recover the contents. Operators have access to special recovery commands in case of grave placement issues.

If you're an administrator and want to delete a grave, take an empty Grave Finder from creative mode and use it on the target. Note that this will delete the grave contents, although the recovery command will still work.

When restoring items, the system will attempt to place them in the same slots they were in before death:

  • Curios accessories
  • Armor
  • Main inventory
  • Cosmetic armor

Experience Handling

Experience Section

Experience Management

  • Default: experience drops on the ground as in normal gameplay
  • Remove all experience: doesn't drop and isn't restored
  • Save and restore: all experience is returned when claiming the grave
  • Save standard amount: only the vanilla amount of experience is restored

Backup Copies

Backup Management

The setting defines the number of backup copies for each player. By default, the 10 most recent deaths are saved and can be restored via commands. All graves in the world can be restored regardless of this parameter.

Grave Placement

Spawning Mechanism

When a player dies, the grave appears on the first found block beneath them. If death occurs in the air, the grave will be on the ground. In water, it will appear at the bottom. If no blocks are found (for example, in the void), the system will attempt to find a safe place: a block with two air spaces above it.

Configurable parameters:

  • Scan height: determines from which height to start searching for a safe place (default y60)
  • Scan range: determines how high and low to search from the scan height (default 10, so the area from y50 to y70 will be scanned)
  • Floor block: if no safe place is found, the grave will appear on top of this block (default dirt)

Example: if the area from y50 to y70 is completely air, the grave will be placed on a dirt block at y60. If death occurred under an End island, the grave might end up on the island's surface or in a cave, wherever a safe place is found within the scan range. If the area is completely solid, the grave will default to spawning at y1 on a dirt block.
