Exotic Birds — Diversity of the Bird World in Minecraft
The Exotic Birds mod enriches your game world with more than 100 varieties of birds, represented in 30 basic types. They spawn in different biomes, creating a lively atmosphere: woodpeckers tap on trees, swans swim in rivers, and lyrebirds mimic surrounding sounds.
Birds and Their Varieties
After installing the mod, various feathered creatures will appear in the world, including:
- Blue Jay and Blue-footed Booby
- Budgie and Cardinal
- Cassowary and Cockatiel
- Crane and Duck
- Flamingo and Gouldian Finch
- Gull and Heron
- Hummingbird and Kingfisher
- Kiwi and Kookaburra
- Lyrebird and Magpie
- Ostrich and Owl
- Parrot and Peafowl
- Pelican and Penguin
- Pigeon and Roadrunner
- Robin and Toucan
- Woodpecker
Note: Phoenix and Vulture are temporarily removed in version 1.14 but are planned to be reintroduced.
Eggs and Hatching
Each bird lays unique eggs in the world. The hatching success rate is 30%, but it can be improved:
- Adding Blaze Powder increases the chance by 15% (10% in versions 1.14+)
- An Egg Incubator boosts the hatching probability by 5% (10% in 1.14+)
Nests as Functional Blocks
Nests are interactive blocks for storing eggs and eggshells. They generate naturally in the world, often on trees, and may contain both regular and unidentified eggs. Players can also craft nests — over time, eggs will appear in them if birds are nearby.
Important: For egg incubation, a special incubator is required, not nests.
Bird Encyclopedia
Explore the world of birds with a detailed encyclopedia! Craft it by surrounding a book with feathers, and gain access to information about each bird: favorite food, habitat, gender, and items for taming. Use the search bar or browse the list to discover all species.
Birdcages
Version 1.12.2 introduced eight types of cages — perfect for transporting and protecting birds. How to use them:
- Right-click a bird to place it in a cage.
- Place and break the cage to release the bird.
- To move the cage with the bird inside, use crouch while breaking it.
Egg Identifier
Analyze unidentified eggs found in nests! Place the egg in the top-left slot of the identifier and Redstone Dust in the slot below it. The identification process is slow, but the result can be anything — even a mythical Phoenix egg!
Note: Sometimes the analysis may fail, resulting in eggshells or nothing at all.
Compatibility
- Full compatibility with Biomes O' Plenty in all versions.
- Eggs are fully integrated into Pam's HarvestCraft recipes (PH2 support upcoming).
- Version 1.12.2 is compatible with Bird's Nests.
- Twilight Forest will feature birds specific to dark forests.
