Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How is it different from Extended Caves?
Answer: The core components of the mod have been reworked and rewritten to fix bugs from the original version and simplify maintenance. The 1.16 version remains compatible with worlds created in Extended Caves, while newer versions of Minecraft feature additional content.
Question: Can I use the 1.16 version in existing Extended Caves worlds?
Answer: The 1.16 version is specifically designed for backward compatibility with Extended Caves version 2.4. Existing worlds load without issues, with only a few minor recipe changes.
Question: When will the 1.18 version be released?
Answer: The first alpha version is already available, though it is not yet complete, but this marks the beginning of development.
Question: Will new content from 1.18 be added to the 1.16 version?
Answer: If any additions are appropriate, they may be backported to the 1.16 version, but this will occur rarely.
Question: What's new in the 1.18 version?
Answer: Development for 1.18 is ongoing. Currently, it includes mostly features from the 1.16 version (some with renamed elements), and some components have been modified or removed for better compatibility with 1.18. The addition of cave biomes and content for the Nether is under consideration.
Question: I don't like the broken stone, can it be disabled?
Answer: Broken stone can be disabled in the settings. A more convenient mechanic is planned for development soon, allowing for better strategic planning. This change will appear in both mod versions (1.16 and 1.18).
Question: Ores look strange in 1.18, can variants be added for better blending?
Answer: Ways to improve the appearance of ores are currently being explored, but it is unknown whether changes will be implemented.
Question: Will there be new structures?
Answer: No new structures will be added in version 1.16, but a revision of existing structures is planned for version 1.18.
Question: Will there be a Fabric port? Can I port the mod myself?
Answer: A Fabric port is not currently planned. The main focus is on refining the mod for Forge, and there is no time to support both platforms. The mod's code is protected by copyright, so self-porting is prohibited. A port for version 1.16 will not be created, but a port for version 1.18.2 to Fabric is in development.
