Expanded Combat

The Expanded Combat mod significantly enhances Minecraft's combat system, offering players numerous new possibilities for battles. You'll find various types of weapons, protective gear, and unique mechanics.
Main Features
Quiver and Arrows
The quiver is a special item placed in a Curios slot that provides additional arrow slots. Arrows from the quiver are used first when shooting. Iron, diamond, and netherite arrows are available in both regular and tipped variants - the more expensive the material, the higher the damage.
The mod also changes the texture and name of the vanilla arrow to make it more resemble a flint arrow. Use Z and X keys to cycle between arrow stacks in the quiver. The interface displays the current, next, and previous arrow stacks - it appears near the offhand slot when holding a bow or crossbow.
Gauntlets
Gauntlets combine armor functions with damage enhancement. They're equipped in the Curios hands slot and can be enchanted with knockback or knockback resistance. When wielding any weapon, the damage bonus is halved.
Shield System
Shields in this mod feature a progressive upgrade system through five slots in the smithing table. Each material increases shield durability, affects mending efficiency, and requires specific conditions for application. For example, netherite can only be applied over diamond, with one ingot sufficient to replace all diamond slots.
Bow and Crossbow Progression
Bows develop through a linear system - improving materials increases shooting range. However, uneven material distribution may degrade weapon performance.
Melee Weapons
Numerous weapon types are available: swords, scythes, hammers, maces, and others. Each type has unique characteristics - damage, range, attack speed, and mending rate - displayed in tooltips.
Special Weapon Mechanics
- Scythe - can be crafted with potion effects that apply on hit
- Katana - blocks arrows (base 2, increases with Blocking enchantment level)
- Hammer, broadsword, claymore - Ground Slam enchantment damages enemies within range (hammer gets +2 levels)
HeartStealer
A unique weapon found in Ancient Cities. It allows stealing hearts but has serious consequences: losing the weapon from inventory causes damage, excessive use causes sun damage like undead mobs. Cures are available but return most stolen health.
Enchantments
- Knockback Resistance - for gauntlets, incompatible with knockback
- Agility - for gauntlets and armor, provides various bonuses (attack speed, jump boost, dodging)
- Blocking - for katana (arrow blocking) and shields (effectiveness)
Configuration
Almost all mod aspects are configurable: item damage, crafting recipes, enchantability.
