Extended Block Shapes
This mod significantly expands building possibilities in Minecraft by adding numerous new variations of standard blocks. You can now create stairs, slabs, fences, gates, buttons, and pressure plates for most vanilla blocks.
Main Features
New Block Types
The mod introduces completely new types of building elements not found in the standard game:
- Vertical slabs - can be placed vertically
- Vertical stairs - stairs that can be placed on walls
- Quarter pieces - blocks that are 1/4 the size of standard blocks
- Vertical quarters - vertical counterparts to quarter pieces
All these blocks, like regular stairs and slabs, can be waterlogged.
Block Mechanics
The hardness, mining tools, and breaking time for all stairs, slabs, fences, and walls match their base blocks, consistent with vanilla game behavior. For example, a wooden slab and a wooden block take the same time to break.
Pressure plates and buttons have hardness equal to 1/4 of their base blocks. Activation time depends on the material:
- Stone blocks: 20 ticks
- Wooden and bamboo: 30 ticks (buttons), 20 ticks (plates)
- Soft blocks: 50-60 ticks
- Hard blocks (obsidian, netherite): 5 ticks
Material Properties
Different block types retain the properties of their base materials:
- Wool and planks are flammable
- Wool, planks, wood, and logs can be used as fuel
- Wool blocks block sculk sensor signals
- Netherrack burns forever
- Bedrock cannot be mined in Survival mode
- Ender dragon doesn't destroy endstone, obsidian, and crying obsidian
- Netherite blocks and ancient debris are resistant to fire and lava
- Gold blocks attract piglins
Crafting and Processing
Crafting recipes are similar to vanilla ones. Stone and metal blocks can be processed in stonecutters. Stairs are crafted in a 3:2 ratio on a crafting table and 1:1 in a stonecutter. Slabs are created in a 1:2 ratio.
Blocks can be converted between horizontal and vertical versions:
- 1 slab ↔ 1 vertical slab
- 1 stairs ↔ 1 vertical stairs
- 1 quarter piece ↔ 1 vertical quarter piece
Compatibility
The mod supports Minecraft versions 1.16.5-1.21.1 and requires Fabric API. For access to mod settings, it's recommended to install Mod Menu.
When used together with the Blockus mod, you can install the additional "Extended Block Shapes - Blockus" mod for full compatibility.
Inventory Settings
In versions above 1.19.3, blocks are automatically added to standard item groups. In older versions, display can be configured through mod settings using the /extshape:config command.
Technical Details
The mod includes a built-in datapack to prevent recipe conflicts. The /extshape:check-conflict command allows checking for crafting conflicts (available only to server owners).
